U16 Quarter Final Result PDF Print

Enniskillen 1-8 Belcoo 0-11

Given the conditions of heavy and incessant rain, perhaps a draw was a fair result overall to give these teams a better chance to perform. The Gaels led by a single point at half time, 1-2 to 0-4, the goal from William Simpson and led 1-7 to 0-8 with 5 minutes left but could not close out the game.

Again a mixed bag of results for the Youth teams . The U16s progressed to the quarter finals of the championship with a comfortable victory over Lisnaskea. They now play Belcoo on Monday night (6th) in Derrygonnelly at 6:30pm.The last league match between these teams was a draw but hopefully the strengthened squad can progress. Elsewhere the U12 teams both lost, the division 1 squad to a strong Tempo team. This was a great game with end to end scoring and only swung the way of the winners with two goals in the last quarter. The development squad also lost to Belnaleck on Sunday afternoon. Training for the U12s continues on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm

Enniskillen 4-12 Lisnaskea 2-4

A rather more comfortable victory than was expected with a first half flurry of scores seeing the Gaels lead 4-4 to 1-2 at half time. The second half was more even but the Gaels were always in control.

The first half scores came as a result of midfield dominance where Sean Michael Breen and Niall Shannon were ably assisted in the breaking ball by Fergal Lynam, Patrick Reihill and Gavin McGinn.

The U16s lost the Division 1 League final to St Patricks. Tonight (Monday) they have a chance to put that behind them when they play Lisnaskea in the first round of the championship. This will be a strong test as the Lisnaskea won the Division 2 league title and will no doubt be buoyed by that win. Players are to meet at Brewster Park at 5:30pm for match beginning 6:30pm in Maguiresbridge

The U12 Section A squad did not have a game but the development squad turned in a very credible performance against Brookeboro loosing narrowly. Training for all U12 continues on Tuesday evening at 6:30pm and anyone back from holidays or who has not yet attended is very welcome. The U12 Section A squad have a game against Tempo on Saturday at noon. Tempo have begun with two strong performances and it will take a good performance from the Gaels.

U16 League Final 2010 Enniskillen Gaels 3-8 St Patricks 4-10

Enniskillen Gaels lost the the U16 League Final to a blistering second half performance from St Patricks. Two quick fire goals from Brian McDermott midway through the second half opened a gap that the Gaels could not close.

The first half had been dominated for large parts by the Gaels, but wastefulness in front of goals with 9 wides and a succession of wrong options left them ahead 2-4 to 1-4 at half time. The Donagh team were more effective with their possession and their scores cames from a mediocore amount of the ball. For the Gaels, the first half goals came from a spilled ball by the goalkeeper and from Fintan Masterson.

In the second half it was pretty much nip and tuck until the goal burst from Donagh, with only a Fintan Masterson major in reply. The St Patricks team were able to hold out quite compfortably in the end tagging on points as the Gaels pressed for the goals to get them back in the contest.
