At the Club Youth Meeting last night Simon Bradley and Greg Kelly outlined the new legislation that will come into effect this year regarding anyone working with children. It will become necessary that all coaches, mentors and even parents who provide even transport to and from games will be required to be vetted by Access NI through the Ulster Council of the GAA.
As this is likely to be a complex task, all those wishing to get involved in ANY way with the youth of Enniskillen Gaels are asked to get a form filled out. Forms are available from Greg and also online in the Downloads Section (direct link). However the form has to be returned to Greg Kelly (Childrens Officer) along with ORIGINAL identification documents - details of these are available on the form. It would also be helpful if you can take a photocopy of the document (just the name and address part) as we have only limited access to photocopy equipment. Greg needs to verify the documents and will then forward the applications in batches to the Ulster Council who will forward to Access NI. In turn Access NI will then return a certificate directly to the applicant and inform the Ulster Council. As a volunteer there is no charge for the the service itself. Note also that any other Access NI certificate will NOT be valid for use with Enniskillen Gaels, for instance if you have a certificate through your place of work eg teacher, the application to the Ulster Council must also be made. This will mean that some people will have more than one Access NI certificate.
Finally a reminder that Greg will be at the clubhouse on Tue 9th between 8 and 9 pm to verify documents for those who have completed the application forms
