Enniskillen 2-16 St Patricks 2-12 aet

Enniskillen have added the U16 League totle to the Minor title won earlier in the year, though it took extra time to separate the protaganists.

Despite a good start the Gaels could not shake off their opponents until extra time. Level at half time it took a last minute free from Enniskillen to take the game to extra time. It was only then that the Gaels managed to put daylight between the sides and there was only going to be one winner in extra time.

After a scrappy start during which time it took both teams a while to settle, the Gaels managed to put some plays together and edged to a 3 point lead nearing half time 0-5 to 0-2. It was then that St Pats struck for their first goal and the Gaels need a reply to go in even at half time.

In the second half the momentum swung one way and then the other, and in fairness a draw would have been a fair result. First Enniskillen struck as a centre was palmed to the net by the in rushing Masterson. However St Pats were to draw back and lead again as they tagged on a second major and looked sure to prevail but that last minute free from Andrew Sheridan took the game to extra time. It was now that Gaels turned the screw and in the fading light Masterson struck again to finally put the game beyond reach of the gallant losers in a game fit for a final.

Enniskillen will now go into the championship with a high degree of confidence but no doubt wary that the there are teams more than capable of matching them.
